The Dimond and Laurel share a culturally diverse, solid middle-class neighborhood in Oakland . Located at the foot of the Oakland Hills and extending westward these fine communities offer an abundance of fine urban living. At the heart of these neighborhoods lies MacArthur Boulevard, a bustling shopping area from Maple Avenue on the west, to High Street on the east with annual festivals and many local shops and restaurants. In particular, the Laurel district(much as other surrounding communities) continues to change as long time homeowners move out and new families move in. The neighborhood shows signs of these changes as new homeowners renovate their homes increasing curb appeal and bringing a new look to the community.
Public transportation is excellent, with easy access to AC Transit and BART. Other conveniently located, are interstate 580 and Highway 13.
